Setup Billing & Payments
How to configure billing, invoicing, and payment gateways in eimmigration
Set up billing so your firm can track charges, issue invoices, and accept payments. This includes connecting LawPay, PayPal, or QuickBooks.
When to complete this task
Before creating invoices or taking client payments.
Basic steps
- Go to Admin Tools → Billing Item Types and create categories
- Add billing items under Billing Items
- Connect a payment gateway (LawPay, PayPal, QuickBooks)
- Enable trust account rules if needed
Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: Navigate to Your eimmigration Portal URL
Step 2: Click Administrative Tools in Top Right corner
- Hover over Cog icon in top right corner
- Click Administrative Tools
Step 3: Select Billing Item Types and add categories such as Filing Fee or Consultation
- Under Types, select Billing Item Types
- Select Add Billing Item Type
- Fill in the name
Step 4: Select Billing Items and create specific items with codes, descriptions, and rate
- Navigate back to the Administrator home page by either
- Hovering over the cog and selecting Administrative Tools
- Clicking Administrator - Home at the top of your current screen
- Select Billing Items under File Access
- Click Add Billing Item
- Enter in the info
- Click Save
Step 5: In Application Settings → Payment Gateway, connect your LawPay, PayPal, or QuickBooks account
- Hover over Cog icon in top right of eimmigration portal
- Select Application Settings
- Select Payment Gateway from the righthand rail
- Select Authorization
- Select LawPay or PayPal
- For Quickbooks select Intuit Quickbooks from the righthand rail of Application Settings
- Select Authorize to authenticate
- Select Settings to make changes to the charge status
Step 6: If your firm uses trust deposits, enable Trust Account Rules
- Select Billing from the righthand rail of Application Settings
- Scroll to the bottom section labeled Trust Account
- Enable or Disable any settings
Step 7: Save Your Changes
- Click Save button at top of billing settings

Clients won’t see online payment options until the gateway is authorized. QuickBooks integration flows one way (to QuickBooks).
